Rules of Boho Chic

I think we can all agree that being comfortable is the bees knees. And being cute AND comfortable is THE icing on the cake.  So for someone like me, the bohemian look is a gift from the gods. Loose, flowing, comfortable, clothes with a feminine spin that can be done year ‘round?!  YES PLEASE. When done right, this look can make you look like an effortless style guru. When done wrong, can have you looking like a vagabond. When attempting to rock this look, here are a few things to remember:

ACCESSORIES ACCESORIES ACCESORIES.

Necklaces, rings, scarves, headbands, bracelets, hats, sunglasses, pile ‘em on.  The funkier you feel like being, the more accessories you should wear. This look is about being care free, so if you love it, wear it, and don’t be too worried about “matching”.

Ask your self this- Am I comfortable? Boho chic isn’t only a look, it’s a feeling. If you are uncomfortable, (belts too tight, necklace is too heavy) you won’t exude the carefree feeling that this look craves.

A skirt, a top, or a scarf flowing in the wind adds to the mystery and romance of the look.

Center your look around earth tones. I love soft brown, tan, and warm hued belts, boots, and bags.  Nuetral toned accessories look great with most outfits and are super versatile.

I need this bag!

My fav place to go shopping for funky bohemian treasures are my local flee market, thrift stores, as well independent  designers that you can scope out on great sites like Etsy.

Don’t be afraid to spice things up with some tribal, and ethnic inspired prints. This adds a fresh spin to this classic look.

These would be so cute with a maxi skirt or high wasted shorts!

Most importantly, be yourself! Don’t wear something because its “trendy” wear it because it makes you feel like a million bucks!

Here are some of my fav young women who are masters at this look. What do you think?

Vanessa Hudgens

Mischa Barton

Erim Wasson

Nicole Richie

Rachel Bilson

Zoe Kravitz

And my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE, most glittery to me:

LYKKE LI
